Don't do it Microsoft
As the dark satanic rumour mill manufactures a hellish rumour that Microsoft's Xbox is about to go 3D, a survey is warning Redmond not to do it.

The survey suggests that more than half of gamers hate 3D with a passion and a further development of 3D enabled consoles may not be a big hit with gaming fans.

The study, conducted by games comparison and marketplace Playr2.com, was conducted following recent rumours which seem to suggest that future consoles (including the Xbox 720) may be 3D enabled. 1, 001 self-confessed gamers subsequently took part in the study, sharing their views on the potential of 3D video games consoles.

Gamers taking part in the study were asked, “Would you welcome the introduction of 3D technology to future console releases, such as the rumoured Xbox 720?” more than half of respondents answered “no.” with 47 per cent of respondents stated “yes”, whilst the remaining were unsure.

Of those who hated the idea most thought , 44 percent claimed that they simply thought it was ‘unnecessary.’ One in three claimed to have played on the Nintendo 3DS and were ‘unimpressed’ with the console a fifth felt that 3D technology would ‘impair the gaming experience.’

More than three quarters of gamers were not in favour of 3D enabled television sets. For these, the overriding reason was the ‘impracticality’ of a 3D television. Simon Kilby, Founder of Playr2.com, who commissioned the the survey said it was surprising to see that the majority were against it, but many seemed to be disappointed by the technology on the Nintendo 3DS and wouldn’t like to see the technology spread to other consoles.
