Hitachi working on 4TB hard drive

by on15 October 2007

Smaller heads for more storage

Yes, you heard right – 4 terabytes. The latest nanotechnology breakthrough made by Hitachi makes this headline real. The company managed to shrink the read/write hard drive head to a size two thousand times smaller than the width of a human hair.

However, as this technology is still not mature enough for production, we'll have to wait until 2011 for it. Hitachi says that this advance will fuel the "terabyte era,“ and we sincerely hope it does, because when it comes to hard drives there's never enough space.
