What makes them interesting is that Ryzen 3 lineup should ship in various quad-core SKUs and Asus has leaked a bit more information regarding the Ryzen 3 1200 SKU. The Ryzen 3 1200 is a quad-core SKU with 8MB of L3 cache, 3.1GHz base clock and the same 65W TDP, just as the low part of the Ryzen 5 lineup. The CPU was spotted in Asus' ROG Crosshair VI Hero (Wi-Fi AC) motherboard CPU support list.

Earlier rumors also suggested that the Ryzen 3 lineup will lack AMD Simultaneous MultiThreading (SMT), so we will be looking at quad-core parts with "just" four threads. On the other hand, this should be enough for AMD to counter most, if not all of Intel's Core i3, Pentium and Celeron Kaby Lake lineup, all of which are dual-core parts and even thread into Intel's Core i5 Kaby Lake lineup.

AMD held its 2017 Financial Analyst Day last night and although we got some fresh roadmaps, the Ryzen 3 lineup is still marked to come sometime in Q3 2017. Hopefully, AMD will have those chips ready sooner rather than later and with the announcement of Ryzen Threadripper with HEDT platform, Ryzen Mobile and Epyc, it is obvious that AMD wants to challenge Intel in all markets.
