Trinity overclocked to 7.3GHz

5.1GHz on air

AMD’s new Trinity APUs might not have been designed with overclocking enthusiasts in mind, but they seem to offer quite a bit of overclocking headroom.

According to CPU-Z data, overclockers managed to push the A10-5800K to 5.1GHz on air. However, with two cores deactivated and some LN2 the chip hit 7.31GHz.

Of course, few users will ever get close to these numbers, but clocks in the 4GHz to 4.5GHz range should be easy to hit with average cooling and limited know-how.
