Core i7-990X EE available
As we wrote earlier today, Intel has finally unveiled and officially launched its six-core Core i7-990X Extreme Edition Gulftown-based processor made on 32nm manufacturing technology. In addition to the launch, Intel has cut the price of its Core i7-970 and Core i7-960 models as well.

The six-core Core i7-990X is made on 32nm manufacturing process and works at 3.46GHz with a up to 3.73GHz TurboBoost. It has six cores and twelve processing threads with Intel Hyper-Threading Tehcnology. It packs 6x256kB of L2 cache, 12MB of L3 cache, features support for triple-channel DDR3-1066 memory, comes with an unlocked multiplier and has a 130W TDP.

We already wrote that this one has appeared in retail/e-tail with a €914,68 price tag, and nothing much has changed since then as European retail/e-tail shops still haven't started to sell it (except for those in Poland that leaked it a while back). Of course, Intel's official price is US $999, but Newegg.com is currently listing it as available for US $1,049.99.

In addition to the new Core i7-990X, Intel has also adjusted the price of its Core i7-970 and Core i7-960. The six-core Core i7-970 (12MB of L3-cache) has dropped from US $885 to US $583 while the 45nm Core i7-960 quad-core (8MB of L3-cache) has dropped from US $562 to an incredible US $294.

You can find more info regarding the new Core i7-990X here.
