Propus at 95W at 3.2GHz

We have already told you that AMD plans to launch Athlon II X4 645 Propus based quad-core in Q3 2010, clocked at 3.1GHz, with the same 95W TDP. This is not all as in the next quarter, Q4 2010 the company plans to raise the bar and launch a 3.2GHz clocked 95W core.

The name is quite logical, Athlon II X4 650 and the new CPU is just a higher clocked version of Propus, AMD's L3-cacheless quad-core. Propus has 4x512KB cache per core, and it doesn’t have any L3 cache, and the best part is that this quad will cost some €100 / $100 at launch.

This is quite good deal for a decent performing quad-core but we still need to see some 2011, new technology Bulldozer-based cores as K10 and its 45nm successor codenamed K10.5 are simply getting old.

It's time for Bulldozer and Fusion.
