We had a chance to see Nehalem in the action. The CPU of undisclosed frequency actually runs picture programs quite well and it can render all your pictures and show you locations where the pictures are taken in seconds. We don’t remember the name of this application but we will try to find out, but we do know it's free and that it's cool way to organize your photos.
At the same time we had a chance to see that all eight threads of Nehalem 45nm quad-core CPU in action, and the CPU itself was working quite well.
We previously reported that Nehalem can and does run at up to 3.2GHz and we can only assume that this particular system actually runs at the same clock speed. Intel simply wouldn’t tell.
This application was actually scalling well on all eight threads but it took like 10 percent of total CPU time and Nehalem can obviously do much more than that. At the same time we are happy to report that Nehalem runs Vista.
Here is how it looks in action.
