As a part of recent notebook plan update, Intel did let its partners know that after March 2010, they will be officially able to use more than a pathetic 1GB of memory in netbooks.

This won't be possible with N450, a new Atom processor scheduled to launch on January 3rd, but it will come to reality with N470, a faster Atom, clocked at 1.83GHz, that is scheduled to launch in March.

The N470-based netbook as a part of Pine Trail-M two chip platform will come with N470 CPU that has an integrated graphics and NM10 southbridge that has the rest of the chipset. It will come with Condor Peak Wlan and with 1 to 2GB of DDR2 memory.

The storage guidance is to use 20 to 32GB SSD drive or a 160GB mechanical hard drive. The operating system of a choice is Moblin Linux, something that Intel tries to push on its end, but naturally manufacturers will be able to use XP Home Edition or Windows 7 Starter.

The screen size will vary from 7 to 10.2-inch and battery will end up with 4 cells of less. The price of these machines will vary on configurations from $299 to $349 but we are confident that you will see even more expensive versions.
