We've written about the X3 and X2 series' unlock capabilities quite a couple of times, but this time we've come across a few resources on how to unlock the extra cores on Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition CPUs.

We're not sure how much of an impact this potential has had on the actual sales of the CPUs, but who are we to refuse two free cores. The guys from www.lab501.ro have posted a great guide on how to unlock the extra two cores on Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition processors and it's worth noting that the team attempted 120 unlocks with an impressive 73% success rate.
