Non-AMD one

You should know by now that Globalfoundries is manufacturing CPUs for AMD in its Dresden Fab and that at some point probably next year ATI should also become the customer of the Dresden upcoming bulk capacities. Globalfoundries needs more customers than only AMD / ATI and even Nvidia´s CEO beleives that Globalfoundries has a top notch manufacturing potential.

Mr Jon Carvill, a Director of Corporate Communications at Globalfoundries, has just started his blog and one of the things he mentioned is that “…the goal to have multiple foundry customers on board by the end of 2009”.

We’ve confirmed that there should be some major announcements soon and Carvill also mentions aggressive development and R&D investments in 32/28 and 22nm. Jon tells us that you have to start three to five years in advanced and invest a lot of money in technology and machines but at the end the goal is to have as many customers for you Fab as possible and make as much money as you can.

You can check the rest of the blog here.
