All new colors shipping

Essential - the phone launched by Andy Ruben and a bunch of other ex-Googlers has launched three new colors and announced Oreo Android 8.1 OTA beta too.

The three new colors Ocean Depths, Copper Black and Stellar Gray have launched within the last week and Ocean Depths has already sold out. Luckily the other two are still available at the essential.com website.

It is interesting to find that Amazon has dropped the price of the  phone down to $449 which is quite an attractive price for the device. At the same time, Essential PH1 made it much easier to get the Android Oreo 8.1 on your phone.

You can now get the beta Android 8.1 ROM over the air, which is definitely easier than the previous sideloading method. The Essential team is, essentially,  on the right track especially with the attachable accessories and 360 camera but we are sure that the next generation Snapdragon 845 based phone, let's call it PH2, will be even better.

The Google Pixel 2 is one great phone and Galaxy S9 will be a great device, but they both cost an arm and a leg. Essential got the pricing right, the design is good, but some people who spent the time with the phone just said that the camera needs improvement.
