Snapdragon 820 to launch after Chinese New Year

A lot of people expected to see Qualcomm's Xiaomi Mi5 launching in late January or early February but apparently this will happen later than expected.

Ex Googler Hugo Bara a global VP at Xiaomi has twitted that Mi5 is almost here and it will first launch in February 24. It's everything you imagined, and more.

The date makes sense as it is after the Chinese New Year. The Chinese new lunar year holiday starts on the February 8 and stretches for two weeks. If you add these two things together, it is hardly surprising that any Chinese February tech launch in happens late in the month.

Xiaomi comes with Qualcom's Snapdragon 820 SoC. So far it has been reported that the Mi5 has 4GB of RAM, 32 or 64GB storage and a 5.2 inch 2560x1440 QHD screen. Mi5 [not the British domestic intelligence service. Ed ] should come with a 16 megapixel rear camera and a 13 megapixel front face camera. If that is not enough to open your wallet, Xiaomi is likely to incorporate Qualcomm's Quick charge 3.0 technology and a much needed 3600mAh battery.

This phone feels like an update to the quite successful Xiaomi MI4c that Fudzilla tested a few months ago. That was quite a phone and, from what we've seen, the Xiaomi MI5 has a good chance to become popular in China and overseas. .
