Gingerbread retains 50+ share

Google released the latest distribution figures for Android and as of December 3, Gingerbread still has massive share, but ICS and Jelly Bean are catching up.

Gingerbread still powers 50.6 percent of all Android devices, while Ice Cream Sandwich has a 27.5 percent share. Jelly Bean adoption is up, but it is still relatively low at 6.7 percent. What’s more, the breakdown shows Android 4.1 with a 5.9 percent share and Android 4.2 with a tiny 0.8 percent share, thanks to a handful of Nexus devices with the latest OS.

Honeycomb and Froyo are on the way out, but the latter still commands a 10.3 percent share, which means that at least one in ten Android users are still clinging to 2010 devices.
