Nokia Lumia phones would sell better with Android

European carriers not impressed

Nokia’s Windows Phone renaissance does not seem to be going down well with European telecoms. Four carriers told Reuters that Nokia’s new Lumia series phones are simply not good enough to take on the iPhone on Samsung’s Galaxy devices.

While the new Lumias are sleek and well built phones, telecom execs believe they are overpriced, lack marketing and they are simply not innovative enough to take on the competition in the overcrowded smartphone market.

The other problem seems to be the OS. Although Windows Phone is a very good operating system with limited hardware requirements, consumers are simply not interested.

"No one comes into the store and asks for a Windows phone," an exec told Reuters.

The exec went on to offer words of praise for Redmond’s OS. However, very few consumers are aware of its potential, the unnamed exec added.

"If the Lumia with the same hardware came with Android in it and not Windows, it would be much easier to sell," he said.
