Looks to be a big jump over current OS

Screenshots are leaking out of the upcoming BlackBerry OS Version 6.0 that users have been waiting for some time to arrive. From what we have seen as well as what our moles tell us, version 6.0 will be a big jump over the current 4.x/5.x versions of the BlackBerry OS. Some of the features will most certainly be described as evolutionary, but still it will be an update that is necessary to keep up with competitors.

Besides the new re-vamped browser that has been rebuilt from the ground up, multitouch support is available throughout the OS with 6; and will include the pinch to zoom feature that everyone seems to enjoy and gestures will arrive, as well. The inbox will offer thumbnails to indicate what kind of messages have arrived as well as many other revisions to the inbox. The media player has received a massive overhaul that is welcomed, as well.

From what we hear the moles suggest that we can expect to see the first BlackBerry OS 6 devices arriving in June or July. It is still unknown which, if any, existing BlackBerry models will be able to be upgraded to OS 6.0. From what we are hearing, however, at least some of the latest model does meet the minimum standards that have been set for 6.0, so at some point those should be able to be upgraded, or so we are being told. We will have to wait and see how this pans out. The real question for some BlackBerry fans has to be whether they upgrade now or wait till OS 6.0 arrives in the summer.
