3.8in screen and more

As we told you last week, HTC has been busy working on its new iPhone competitor, the Touch HD and it's now official and it looks like it's even better than the early spec's suggested. The touch screen ended up measuring 3.8-inches in the end and the WVGA 800x480 resolution was spot on.

The Qualcomm processor ended up clocked at 528MHz and the Touch HD will have 512MB of ROM and 288 of RAM as well as a microSD card slot for memory expansion. Other features as we mentioned will include WiFi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and A2DP support, USB 2.0 interface for PC syncing, GPS with aGPS support , a 5Megapixel camera with autofocus as well as a front mounted VGA camera for video calls, an FM radio and a top mounted 3.5mm audio jack.

The Touch HD supports quad band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and 900 and 2,100MHz 3G/HSDPA/HSUPA with download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps and upload speed of up to 2Mbps. At 115x62.8x12mm (HxWxD) and 146.4g with the battery fitted, it looks like HTC has made it as pocket friendly as possible with that large display.

HTC claims talk times of up to 390 minutes on 3G or 310 minutes on 2G while the standby time is 450h on 3G and 390h on 2G with the battery being good for up to 120 minutes of video calls. It will of course use HTC's TouchFLO 3D on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 professional, but there's no mention of any other software that it will ship with.

The Touch HD will be available in Europe in Q4, although no pricing was announced.
