Featuring the new Sandforce controller

Following the recent announcement of the new Sandforce SF-2000 series controllers, OCZ has announced that it is working on a new SSD that will make use of the quite impressive features of the new Sandforce controller. The Deneva SSD, as OCZ calls it, will be avaialble with a wide variety of interface options including the SATA 6.0Gbps, as well as OCZ's recently announced HSDL (High-Speed Data Link).

Although the precise details weren't announced, you can expect that OCZ's Deneva series will certainly make use of SF-2500/2600 ability to provide performance of up to 500MB/s and 60,000 IOPS for random 4KB write, as well as its support for wide variety of NAND chips, including SLC, MLC and eMLC.

The upcoming Deneva SSDs will be available with SATA, SAS, PCI-Express and OCZ's HSDL interface options as well as in a wide range of form factors, 1.8-inch, 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch. Considering the decent support and firmware updates that OCZ has offered for its already launched SSDs, we are sure that these will be quite interesting once they appear on the market.

The Deneva based SSDs are scheduled to start sampling in Q4 2010, while mass production is scheduled for Q1 2011.
