A wearable device which gives you an electric shock if you spend too much is being touted for those who need to save cash.

The Pavlok wristband is linked to your bank account and will deliver a 255-volt shock to your arm when your account drops below a pre-set amount. CEO of Intelligent Environment, the banking technology firm behind the prototype, David Webber said that the wearable is the answer for those who have no will power.

Webber told the Beeb that the idea that the concept iwas not too controlling.

We guess it is designed for the sorts of people who can't stop eating after three pringles, or think that buying anything from Apple is a super, cool, neat idea.

Pavlok, the maker of the hardware, has previously used its technology to help you get out of bed in the morning and to avoid procrastinating on the internet. No we did say procrastinating, but we are sure you could programme it to jolt you out of most internet addictions.

At the moment the idea depends on the banks to allow access to your account so the watch can tell if you have enough money. Surprisingly they are not that keen.  We guess if you go into overdraft they make more money and they think they should be the only ones to deliver shocks.
