Announces first VR headset

Huawei has officially announced the company's first virtual reality headset. Dubbed the Huawei VR, the headset comes with the world's first 360-degree sound field which promises a better audio experience.

On the face of it, the headset is very similar approach to Samsung's Gear VR. It requires you to own a phone and shove it in the front. There is a button to switch between virtual and real content, as well as a touch panel on the side for volume control.  It will have three versions based around the two latest P9 phones and the larger Mate 8.  In addition, there is a scroll button on top to adjust the lenses, which are said to work for users with myopia up to -7.00.

Like the Gear it will be a starter kit only and offer none of the experience you would see from the Occulus.  But then it will not require the high powered PC to run it either. There is no word on pricing or availability.
