End of Life

We learned that Radeon HD 3000 series, including Radeon 3870 X2, 3870, 3850, 3650, 3470 and 3450 will get to end of life status in September.

This means ATI will stop selling them at this time but this won't necessarily mean that you won’t be able to buy it in retail / etail anymore. Companies usually end up with an overstock of these products even months after EOL notice.

The decision is quite simple and logical as ATI wants to replace the complete portfolio with new Radeon 4000 series cards. The prices of Radeon 3000 generation have ridiculously gone down, to make a better space for Radeon HD 4000 generation. We have to admit that Radeon 3000 series did a good job in the last nine months on market.

ATI simply wants to simplify the market and get rid of all unnecessary brands and cards and to stick to the most profitable ones, and at this time this is Radeon 4000 series.
