LG to roll out two hi-def monitors at IFA

by on18 August 2014

31-inch 4K panel and curved 34-incher

LG is planning to refresh its monitor line-up at the upcoming IFA tradeshow in Berlin and it has two models that should appeal to GPU geeks.

The 31MU97 is a 31-inch monitor based on a true 4K panel (4096x2160). Aside from the size and resolution, we do not know much about it yet, but it is one of few 4K monitors out there. Most vendors have chosen to stick with UHD rather than 4K.

In addition to the 4K 31MU97, LG is also planning to introduce a curved 21:9 display. The 34UC97 features a 34-inch curved panel and the resolution is 3440x1440. While this is nowhere near the pixel density of a proper 4K/UHD monitor, it is a curved panel, which should appeal to gamers with deep pockets.

The biggest problem with curved displays so far is that they tend to be prohibitively expensive. Unfortunately LG has not revealed any pricing info yet.
