Club 3D introduces Y-Cabled Docking Station

by on07 August 2014

Connect notebooks to three monitors

Club 3D had a good run with the successful Multi Stream Transport MST HUB that was launched in 2013 and today they are expanding this Ultra AV and Cable line with the world’s first Y-Cabled Docking Station.

The Club 3D MultiStream Transport (MST) Hub is a tool for adding multiple monitors to your (mini) DisplayPort fitted notebook, ultrabook or even a tablet like the Microsoft Surface Pro. Unfortunately Club 3D MultiStream Transport (MST) Hub doesn’t let you connect peripherals, transit data, charge your phone and use monitors at the same time, but luckily the Y-cabled docking station does.

The new Club 3D CSV-3203 Y-Cabled Docking Station uses both a Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 connector enabling up to three DisplayPort, HDMI or VGA monitors and multiple USB 3.0 devices.

The Y-Cable DockPort Hub offers you two mini DisplayPort outputs, no fewer than three USB 3.0 ports and a Gigabit Ethernet port. This way you can easily enable connectivity to external keyboards, mice, audio, storage devices and (full HD) monitors while charging your phone at the same time. The connected monitor can be configured to either mirror your primary screen or extend the Windows desktop.

You can connect up to eight monitors on the Y-cabled Docking station, but in case you want 4K resolution you will only be able to connect one 3840x2160@60Hz (24bpp) monitor. This sounds like a great docking station replacement as it will let you connect your notebook to a monitor, keyboard and other devices.

The device comes with one Ethernet RJ45 10/100/1000 port, two Mini DisplayPort 1.2 outputs, one Mini DisplayPort 1.2 input cable, three USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.0 input cable. You will be able to charge your phone or tablet but we don’t know how many amps it delivers. The device uses a 19.5V DC power supply unit.

The dock supports DisplayPort 1.2, 1.1a, VESA DDM standard, HDCP 2.0, Display ID and EDID 1.4 as well as Wake-ON-LAN-Technology and resolution up to 2560x1600@60Hz each monitor in DP 1.2 MST and up to FHD/1080p in DP1.1 or DP 1.2 SST. It looks relatively compact and easy to carry. It should be available shortly, but Club 3D has not revealed the price yet.
