Going Rogue

Mobile graphics outfit Imagination is rolling out two new PowerVR GPUs, the G6230 and G6430. The G6230 is a two-cluster design, while the G6430 features four clusters.

The company claims the new Rogue cores “set a new benchmark” for high performance, while at the same time keeping power consumption at reasonable revels. Both parts are said to deliver unmatched power and performance per area ratings.

So how do they stack up against current generation mobile graphics? Well, Imagination says they are up to 20 times faster than current generation GPU cores targeting comparable markets, although this sounds somewhat vague. The new parts deliver performance in the hundreds of GFLOPS, up to a TFLOPS, the company claims.

One interesting fact we missed recently - Imagination has a 78 percent market share in mobile GPU IP licensing deals.
