AMD next gen named Radeon HD 8000
Was hard to guess
A hint at the next generation APU codenamed Richland A series has revealed what might be the first official mention of AMD’s next generation graphics.
You will never guess, the name for their 2013 graphics lineup is Radeon HD 8000 series. Despite being placed mentioned in AMD’s 2013 plans, there is a very good chance we will see this second generation 28nm graphics cores before the end of this year and it will certainly find its place in the next generation APUs.
We don’t have any other details than that. There is some talk of DirectX 11.1 but that was it, and it is not clear whether it is supported instantly with all Radeon HD 8000 parts.
One thing is certain, Radeon HD 8000 will be faster than Radeon HD 7000 series, but this was not really hard to guess either. Also, AMD will beat Nvidia’s second-generation 28nm parts to market.
