CES 2009: Plus $349 for 120Hz 3D monitor

Viewsonic
will be the first company to launch a 120Hz monitor and this happens today Vegas time. The retail glasses are available today for a steep $199. We believe that this is way to much for the glasses, especially knowing that the 22-inch monitor from Viewsonic that operates at the 120Hz you need for the glasses to work, will set you back an additional $349.

This means that a chap with a good graphics card will have to spend an additional $548 in order to play games in 3D and the biggest issue is that most gamers have 24+ inch monitors today and going back to a 22-incher doesn’t makes much sense.

At least the graphics looks good through the glasses, but we believe that Nvidia wants too much money for it. The price will eventually go down and it was rather interesting that the retail product would be available before the big reviews.

3D glasses ks the way to change the face of the gaming, as games get a much better 3D feeling, but this technology comes at a price. We tried them again, and they do look good and this time they really are wireless.
