Features 2nd-gen DrMOS technology

As many
know, today is the notorious launch day of the GPU industry’s 40nm generation, and the event seems to have kicked off in ATI’s favor with the launch of its Radeon HD 4770 series cards. In light of the celebration, MSI has brought its own version of the card to the hardware table for consumer approval, and ATI approval, as it runs at stock speeds.

The MSI R4770-T2D512 runs on the RV740 core at 750MHz and features 512MB of GDDR5 at 3200MHz. More importantly, it is equipped with a second-generation DrMOS chip, a 3-in-1 system intended to deliver higher quality power than a discreet MOSFET with lower spike noise and a faster response. The card also features Hi-C Cap, high-stability capacitors to ensure higher stable voltages and better heat resistance.

MSI has also prepped this board with ATI PowerPlay technology, an efficient power management system capable of dramatically reducing power consumption when GPU load demand is low, while providing an optimal performance balance. MSI claims that its HD 4770 will not consume more than 90 watts even under full load.

Pricing and availability are yet to be announced, but it should average around $109 in the US market, or just under €99 in Europe.
