Major release

We've learned that Catalyst 8.12 comes out on December 10th, and that the new driver will get a stream computing option and it should also improve performance on many top games.

Sources close to ATI have told us that this is a major driver release and it will get stream computing, ATI's answer to Nvidia's CUDA decoding. We've learned that the new driver should help HD4870-based cards compete better against Nvidia's new 180 driver on Geforce GTX 260 cards with 216 shaders, but it is not conclusive who will end up the performance king this time around.

We believe that it will be close in many cases, but we are still some two weeks away from the Catalyst 8.12 release.
