Introduces new Nintendo Super Mario Run game

Apple has kicked off its Apple event in San Francisco, California talking about both its Apple Music and its App Store, with a special focus on games.

According to Apple, Apple Music grew significantly and now has over 17 million subscribers and will stream the Apple Music Festival.

Apple was quite keen to note that its App Store also grew, reaching over 140 billion total App Store downloads and getting two times more global revenue than the closest competitor.

Apple put a big focus on App Store games, saying that there are over half a million games in the store. While there were plenty of good games, something was always missing, and Apple decided to bring Nintendo to it with Super Mario, putting Mario finally on iOS.

The new game, called Super Mario Run, will be mobile-focused, with controls optimized for a mobile device, meaning that you can play the game with a single hand. The game will also feature a special Battle Mode, which will allow you to play against a friend or anyone in the world.

According to Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo,  Super Mario Run will launch sometime during the holiday season at the end of this year.
