Club Nintendo Loyalty program to end

by on20 January 2015

Stars in your account will expire on September 30th

After much talk and several hints we have received from some sources, Nintendo confirmed that their loyalty program known as Club Nintendo will be going the way of the dodo bird. Nintendo has confirmed however that a new loyalty program is in the works, and will launch at some point later this year.

Those that still have stars in their account need to be aware that they will expire on September 30th. Starting on April 1st, Nintendo will no longer be including product registration cards with its games going forward. Games without registration cards can still be registered on Club Nintendo. After April 20th, digital products downloaded from the eShop will no longer appear in the my registered games and systems pages on Club Nintendo. The on September 30th, the Club closes its doors and it is over.

When Nintendo launches the new program you will get a free copy of Flipnote Studio 3D when users sign up. Additional information on the program launch will be announced at a later date. While this ends one program, it is apparent that Nintendo sees value in the program as it is going to offer a new program at a late date.
