As more details start to come out about the Sony Cross Buy program for the PlayStation Vita, we are now hearing that (at least initially) Cross Buy will be restricted to only the European region. This is not to say that Sony might not make it available in other regions, but at least to start with it will be a European-only thing.

Sony had no real reason to offer as to why it would be a European-only program to start with, or why it elected to try it in Europe first. In addition, Sony said it has no timetable or idea of when it thinks that it could launch it in other regions; in fact, Sony isn’t sure that it will ever offer it in other regions. We suspect that the success of the program will dictate if the company elects to roll it out to other regions. The company also needs 3rd party support for Cross Buy to make it successful, and so far, only Electronic Arts has said that they are looking to do it for Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
