160GB PS3 model going nowhere

by on29 June 2011

Regional shortages because of demand
Sony has confirmed to retailers and distributors that we have spoken with that the PlayStation 3 160GB model is not being phased out or discontinued, despite some reported product availability issues that have been reported by retailers.

Some have thought that the move might be an indication that Sony is planning to release a new or revised model at a lower price. The regional shortages that have been felt are apparently due to increased demand for the console.

Stock levels are not where anyone would like at the moment, and word has it that additional shipments are on the way to regions where stock is low. Look for the problem to clear itself up in the coming weeks ahead.
