Red Dead snags GOY at VGAs

A very worthy winner this year
Last year, many who were not PlayStation 3 owners were very unhappy with the winner of the Game of the Year at the Video Game Awards. While the field was crowded again this year, surprisingly the title that was our hands-down favorite for Game of the Year and it actually won this time around.

That’s right:  Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption wins not only Game of the Year, but also download content of the year as well for the Undead Nightmare expansion pack. They didn’t stop there by also winning Best Song in a Game and Best Original Score. Four awards in total, and no other title even came close.

The release of Red Dead was said to be a bit of a bumpy road, with the game being bumped to a later release date at least once that we can remember, and some intense and perhaps less than favorable working conditions during some of the major production crunch times at Rockstar San Diego (based on what we heard). The winning of video game of the year has to be very satisfying; as a western-themed title, many people didn’t even give it a chance and it turned out to be truly one of the best, if not the best video gaming experience of the year.

Our congratulations to the team at Rockstar San Diego from all of us here at Fudzilla.
