1.37 million consoles sold
Microsoft has to be pleased with the latest news from the NPD Group who announced that the Xbox 360 sold 1.37 million units in the month of November. The news makes Xbox 360 the only console with double digit growth for the year, with an impressive growth rate of 42%.

Sources tell us that Microsoft was helped by the popularity of the recent Call of Duty: Black Ops release for the platform, as well as several other high profile offerings. Still, the biggest help might have been none other than the release of Kinect.

The release of Kinect has apparently contributed a lot to the recent popularity of the Xbox 360, and while Microsoft isn’t exactly saying how much of the growth they owe to the release of Kinect, it is apparent that Kinect has propelled the visibility of the console and captured the interest of a lot of consumers.

The Xbox 360 sales have perhaps caught Microsoft a little by surprise, as whispers tell us that forecasts called for lower console sales numbers; this has led to some stock shortages on the Xbox 360 250GB model that we have told you about previously. In addition, independent video game retailers tell us that it is more difficult to obtain additional Xbox 360 console inventory this holiday season than it has been in the past.
