EA to be official “Technology Partner”
Electronic Arts has done it again. This time around, Electronic Arts has leveraged its EA Sports brand to become the official technology partner of the English Premier League. The news isn’t that stunning, but it will give EA the ability to benefit from live broadcast branding and content enhancements that will come to FIFA starting with the next release.

The biggest part of the partnership will be the creation of the EA Sports Player Performance Index, which will not only be used during broadcasts but within the actual Premier League games themselves. The Play Performance Index will be based on real statistics and can be used to actually rate a player based on his real world play; and, of course, this will also translate into the game.

EA Sports branding will be used in broadcasts of matches, and expect to see the EA Sports logos on the stats as well as the other areas of the game broadcast such as replays, for example. Both sides will continue to be looking for ways to expand their partnership as time goes on.
