It’s popular so they will create more

Apparently, Gearbox is pleased with the sales of the first three downloadable content packs that have been released for Borderlands. They are so pleased, in fact, that they have announced that additional downloadable content will be coming.

While no idea of what kind of content might be on the way, our sources tell us that the success of the content that has been released so far has encouraged the developers to extend the title by building more. Our sources tell us that they have no clue when to expect the new content, and that it will be likely to arrive in the late summer or early fall.

Neither Take-Two nor Gearbox has hinted how well the content has sold, but it is a safe bet that they sold enough to warrant the decision to build more of it. What is really surprising, however, is that there has been no real announcement what the future of the franchise may hold or when players can expect a follow-up to the first Borderlands.
