New Xbox Live Arcade promotion details

Microsoft has let loose the details of their upcoming Xbox Live Arcade Block Party promotion that will run the entire month of March. From what our sources tell us, this promotion will be in addition to what has become the annual Summer of Arcade promotion that will be launched this summer.

The big build up for the Block Party promotion is the actual launch of the new Game Room that we have been telling you about that will allow you and your avatar to visit what is best described as a virtual arcade, where you can play the arcade classic of the past or purchase access to your favorite games from between 240 to 400 Microsoft Points.

The Game Room isn’t the only thing that Microsoft is making a part of this promotion. In the weeks leading up to the official release of the Game Room on March 24th,  Microsoft will be releasing three new games for Xbox Live arcade. The new titles include Toy Soldiers, which will arrive March 3rd for 1200 Microsoft Points. Next up will be Scrap Metal, which will cost 1,200 Microsoft Points when it arrives on March 10th. Finally, the new enhanced version of Perfect Dark will arrive on March 17th for 800 Microsoft Points.

That is not all! For those that wish to purchase the entire load, Microsoft will be giving those that purchase all three, plus downloading Game Room, 400 Microsoft Points deposited into their account plus an additional one month free of Xbox Live Gold. Not a bad deal at all, if you are going to buy all three.

For those that can’t decide, Microsoft will be allowing online play for these Block Party titles from March 26th thru March 29th to give Silver members a chance to check these titles out. This will give everyone a chance to have a look and take advantage of the promotion before it ends.

The early buzz on Toy Soldiers, Scrap Metal and Perfect Dark has been quite good and from the previews that we have seen, all three of these are worth checking out if not buying. Out of these upcoming releases, we are already pretty fond of Scrap Metal and have to think that this one is going to be pretty darned popular once it is released.
