Will still be released for Xbox 360 on July 29th

News reached us today that the upcoming release of Marvel vs. Capcom for the PlayStation 3 is going to be delayed a couple of weeks and will not arrive at the same time as the Xbox 360 release.

Originally, it was reported that the PlayStation 3 version would arrive on July 30th, which is one day after the release on Xbox Live Arcade for the 360 as part of the Microsoft 2009 Summer of Arcade Promotion. Instead, we are now hearing that it will instead arrive on August 13th.

Our sources claim that the PlayStation 3 owners will, however, be able to download an exclusive demo prior to the release on the Xbox 360, but the actual release date of the demo on the PS3 is not yet known. When it does release on August 13th, the price is still expected to be $15 on the PlayStation Network.

It is unknown why Capcom has opted for this delayed release strategy between the two platforms, but it is thought that it might be to give the Xbox 360 a short exclusive release window as part of the Microsoft 2009 Summer of Arcade Promotion. We will have to continue to dig, but as far as we know so far there is no reported technical delay as to why they both could not be released at the same time.
