A mid-range with S Pen

Sam Mobile has got its paws on snaps of a new variant of the Galaxy Tab A 10.1.

The Galaxy Tab 2016 is an addition to the Galaxy Tab A series which launched four months ago and there have been hints that Samsung is already planning a new player in the range.

Samsung is setting up the new model as a mid-range tablet that’s available in Wi-Fi only and mobile models. The company has been dropping hints that the new tablet will feature the new S Pen which was introduced with the Galaxy Note 7.

As you might expect there are not many major changes to the tablet’s spec. It will have the same 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor with 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage as the Galaxy Tab A 10.1. The original Galaxy Tab A 10.1 had an 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front camera as well as a 7,300mAh battery so this is likely too.

The difference is the new tablet has the S Pen has the same stylus as the Galaxy Note 7 so it features the same Air Command menu and S Pen features as the new flagship smartphone. This means that you can translate a word by simply hovering the stylus above it. The screen off memo is present as well along with the new Samsung Notes app that arrived with the Galaxy Note 7.

No date has been set for the new tablet and it is a leak so there is no price suggested either.
