Built for overclocking

Following Nvidia's recent launch of the Geforce GTX 10 series graphics cards for notebooks, EVGA has now unveiled its newest version of the SC17 notebook, and one comes with the Geforce GTX 1070 graphics card.

As was the case with the original SC17 notebook, which used the GTX 980M 8GB GPU, the new EVGA SC17 1070 gaming notebook is also built around the Sharp 17.3-inch 4K/UHD screen and features Intel's Core i7-6820HK unlocked and OC-ready CPU.

The precise dimensions of the aluminum unibody design are set at 408x295.5x27.18mm and it weighs around 4.5kg.

The other specifications include 32GB of G.Skill DDDR4 SO-DIMM memory, Samsung's 256GB M.2 NVMe SSD paired up with 1TB SATA 6Gbps HDD for storage, couple of USB 3.0 Type-A and one USB 3.1 Type C port, full-sized keyboard with white backlight and Synaptics Clickpad 1.5 touchpad.

The star of the show is definitely Nvidia's new Pascal-based GTX 1070 for notebooks, which although has a lower clock compared to the desktop version, also packs a higher number of CUDA cores, which should provide similar performance to the desktop counterpart. In case you missed it, the GTX 1070 for notebooks is based on a GP104 GPU with 2048 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs and 64 ROPs, and has a 1645MHz GPU Boost clock. It comes with 8GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 8.0GHz, with a 256-bit memory interface.

EVGA also notes that the power supply for this notebook was designed in-house and can deliver up to 240W of power when needed, without compromising the battery life, although we doubt that you can expect an impressive battery life from a 17-inch notebook.

There are plenty of other neat features like the Clear CMOS button in case something goes wrong with overclocking, Express OC with a click of a button and true GUI BIOS with overclocking and enthusiast features.

The new EVGA SC17 GTX 1070 gaming notebook is currently unavailable but you can get notified when it becomes available and pay US $2799.99 for that pleasure. Or $2,800 as we call it.
