Earlier this year Intel announced Moorefield, a 22nm mobile SoC designed for tablets and smartphones.

Some devices were showcased at MWC 2014 back in February, but the parts were still not ready. Intel was hoping to ship the first products later this year and a new FCC leak indicates that it is on track to do so.

PhoneArena came across an FCC filing listing the full spec of an upcoming Asus tablet based on a Merrifield chip. Codenamed K007, the tablet is a 7-inch device powered by an Atom Z3560 quad-core processor clocked at up to 1.8GHz. The tablet features a 1920x1200 display.

The tablet has a 5-megapixel camera at the back, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS and 16GB to 32GB of storage. PoneArena speculates this could be a new Asus MeMO tablet, but there's a slight chance it could be a replacement for the 2013 Google Nexus 7. 

It is not the first Asus tablet based on Intel Moorefield, as the first two devices were announced at Computex.

Moorefield is an extension of Merrifield. It has four instead of two CPU cores and it is aimed at somewhat bigger devices. It is a 64-bit part built on Intel's 22nm node. It features speedy PowerVR G6430 graphics clocked at 533MHz.
