AMD Fusion Sony VAIO YB goes on sale

by on07 February 2011

For $599.99
Previously seen at CES 2011, Sony has finally started to ship its 11.6-inch VAIO YB series featuring AMD's Zacate 1.6GHz clocked CPU paired up with 4GB of memory and 500GB of storage. Currently available only at Sony's store in silver and pink the VAIO YB sounds like a real catcher with its US $599.99 price tag.

In case you missed it, the Sony VAIO YB features a 11.6-inch LED-backlit 1366x768 screen, AMD's dual-core E-350 Zacate CPU clocked at 1.6GHz and paired up with AMD Mobility Radeon HD 6310 graphics, a 500GB HDD, 4GB of DDR3 memory, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and all the goodies that you would expect from an 11.6-inch notebook/netbook, including the webcam, microphone, HDMI and D-Sub outputs, three USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11bgn WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.

The new VAIO YB weighs around 1.46kg (3.23lbs) and measures 29x2.5-3.17x20.2cm (11.42x0.99-1.25x7.99inch). There is no info regarding the specs of the battery but it does state that it will provide up to 6hrs of life.

The noted configuration is currently available in silve and pink colour but we guess that e-tail should get their hands on the cheaper configs pretty soon. You can check it out here.
