The LT3103u with AMD Athlon 64 L110

Gateway has announced a new netbook that falls into, what AMD likes to call, thin and light notebook category, the LT3103U. The new 11.6-inch netbook comes with an AMD Athlon 64 L110 CPU working at 1.2GHz which is paired up with AMD's RS690E chipset. Gateway has an apparent winner with this one, as these specs are coupled with a great US $399.99 price tag.

The mentioned AMD Athlon 64 L110 processor works at 1.2GHz and according to the specs at Gateway's web site, it features 800MHz FSB and 512KB of L2 cache. The chipset is, in our opinion, more than sufficient for the 11.6-inch HD Ultrabright LED-backlit 1366x768 resolution display, as the X1270 should have no problems with it.

It also comes with 2GB of DDR2 533 memory, 250GB SATA hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi, three USB 2.0 ports and VGA output, 10/100 Ethernet LAN, 0.3M web cam, and a card reader. Its trackpad features multi-touch support.

The LT3103u weighs 1.38kg (3.04lbs) and comes with a 6-cell Lithium Ion 5200mAh battery which should provide decent battery life. It ships with Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 OS, and looks a lot like Acer/Gateway ZA8 which the guys from netbooknews.com tried back at Computex.
