Comsumer electronics giant Hitachi has indicated that it is ready to release the world's first Blu-ray touting High Definition camcorders. The machine will come out under the 'Wooo' brand and will manage Full HD 1080p recording via a whopping 5.3 megapixel CMOS sensor.

The camera will will only hold reduced size 8cm Blu-ray and DVD discs which are much less than a standard dual layer DVD.   This means that they will hold just 1.4GB.

According to Trusted Reviews the whole thing will be expensive and it is probably better to wait until the technology has matured a bit.  As it is, the user has to swap one expensive HD-DVD for another if they run out of space.
