A new study conducted by Nottingham Trent
University claims that one in 10 players who played online games had started a
physical relationship with a fellow gamer.
According to the study females were more
likely to be attracted to other gamers than males and were more likely to meet
up with online friends in the real world.
The research pours cold water on claims
that online games are responsible for tearing apart relationships and encourage
anti-social behaviour.
More than 43 per cent of almost 1000
participants had met with online friends in real-life situations and over 70 per
cent of both male and female gamers had made good friends while
in-game.
Two thirds believed the games had a
positive effect on their relationships.
