CeBIT 2009: Looks good for now

In addition to its Dominator GT lineup of memory modules, Corsair has showed its first prototype case that will take the company into this market. As far as we could see, the prototype looks promising and we might get a new big player in the high end case market.

The case is made from a combination of steel and aluminum, where the cage is made out of steel and the outer shell is aluminum. The front panel is made out of brushed aluminum so it looks better than the rest of the case. The prototype case has a lot of neat features, and you can feel that Corsair paid attention to even smallest details.

The case has room for six 3.5-inch hard drives, where the top four are hot-swappable and can be reached from the front panel, while the other two have another drive cage at the bottom of the case. The case interior is separated in three zones, one at the bottom that hold the PSU and additional drive cage, the main hard drive cage that cooled by a 120mm fan placed on the side, and of course the main zone where the motherboard is.

The motherboard tray has a hole behind the CPU so you can easily place a backplate without taking the motheboard out. The top part of the case has room for water-cooling radiator with up to three 120mm fans and of course it also has pre-drilled holes on the back for water-cooling pipes. The cable management should be a breeze with this case as Corsair made sure that there are plenty of cable management holes that even have rubber shafts, just like the water-cooling tube holes on the back.

The case is still in its prototype phase and some things might be changed, but even at this stage the case looks great and Corsair might have a winner with this one. Once it leaves its prototype stage the case will be available in two versions, the full tower and mid-tower. The price is still unknown as there are still a lot of things to be done before we see this case on retail/e-tail shelves.
