Cebit 08: Mobile media players

Conceptronic, the Holland-based European brand for Tulip Computers, showcased some of their favorites. We found them at CeBIT, in Hall 25, and we saw their newest product – Media Giant. It’s a network HD player and hard disk recorder in one device. It’s an all-in-one device that can record and recreate 1080i HD video, and it packs many useful features.

You can see that the back features numerous connectivity options: HDMI, HDMI, YPbPr, TV Tuner, SPDIF, USB, mini USB, ethernet port, etc. Also featured is UpnP AV Twonky media server, and easy networking is courtesy of Power Plug adapter (enables networking via the local power-grid).

Conceptronic is aimed at mobility, and all the devices are small and extremely mobile. All the media players come with remote controls and those definitely come in handy.

CFULLHDMA is one of the smallest models and it features Full HD 1080p support. Some of the supported formats are XviD, WMV9, MOV, MKV, H.264, MPEG 1/2/4, JPEG, MP3, WMA, AVI, SVCD, VCD, IFO (DVD navigation) VOB, etc. It features UpnP client with Gigabit Ethernet interface. We've also seen a wireless media player.

CM3PVR is one of the newer models that made Conceptronic famous. It’s a stylish PVR (personal video recorder) used for recording movies or TV shows to the built-in hardware. Hard disk 3.5’’ options range from 320GB to 1TB and it’ll enable hours and hours of recorded content that you can recreate at will. There’s no need for a computer, since this device features some important options such as timeshift, scheduled recording and real-time recording from DVD players, set-top boxes or cameras

Still, you can connect it to your PC via USB, or to your TV via Coax cable (TV Tuner I/O) or Composite Video/Audio out on your recorder. We found a sketch that might help you decide whether it suits your needs. Some of the featured outs are S-Video, Component, SPDIF (5.1 surround) and the recorder has a built-in card reader (SD/SDHC/MMC/MS), as well as a USB port. This device comes with a two-year warranty coupled with regular technical support as well as firmware updates.

We’ve also seen Abbraszio fashion IT bags. They’re all quite appealing and the quality isn’t half bad. Apllo for business, Sputnik for your free time or Galaxy bags for carrying your notebook around – you can certainly find a bag that suits your needs, and they pack enough space for your camera, glasses or different things you might need.
