10,000 cows can power 1,000 servers

HP boffins
have come up with a cunning plan to power servers and it doesn't involve drilling holes in the Mexican Gulf or bombing the Persian Gulf.

HP engineers believe that biogas generated from cow manure is a viable energy alternative to fossil fuels and nuclear power. They have worked out that the waste from 10,000 cows could generate up to 1MW of electricity and easily power around 1,000 servers.

The idea would allow companies to build vast data centers in rural locations, right next to picturesque pastures, dairy farms and slaughterhouses. Mind you, we're not sure whether burning tons tons of cow crap qualifies as clean energy.
