2.5-inch internal drive, WiFi and LAN

Patriot has decided to branch a bit out of its memory and storage product lineup and have announced its first media player, the Box Office. Packet in a small 142 x 145 x 38mm anodized aluminium chassis, this device supports 1080p output from flash drives, external hard drives or even an optional internal 2.5-inch drive.

It supports Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound, has HDMI 1.3 and composite video outputs as well as three USB 2.0 ports, and supports a wide variety of file formats. The thing that we were quite surprised about is the support for internal 2.5-inch HDD or SSD, something that is rare on such media players.

The new Patriot Box Office HD media player also feature a 10/100 LAN as well as an optional WiFi USB adapter, which means that you can hook it up on your network and use it as a network based player.

The Box Office also comes with included HDMI and composite cable, and a remote controller.

The drive is currently listed over at Amazon.com with a US $129.99 price tag (US $99.99 after rebates) and with a Patriot Box Office Wireless G USB adapter as a gift. With this price, Patriot's Box Office 1080p HD Media Player sounds like a nice deal.
