Dual-core Athlon for €649

MSI is
no stranger to all-in-ones and we reported and reviewed a number of MSI's AIOs powered by Intel Atom chips. Shortly after announcing its first AMD Neo based notebooks, MSI started shipping its first all-in-one powered by AMD, the Wind Top AE2010. We already mentioned it last month, here.

Unlike most all-in-ones, the AE2010 is not based on Intel's vegan Atom platform, but substantially more beefy AMD Athlon chips, the Athlon 2650e at 1.6GHz or Athlon X2 3250e at 1.5GHz. The 20-inch 1600x900 touchscreen is powered by Radeon HD 3200 graphics with 128MB of DDR3 SidePort memory and the AE2010 packs 2GB of RAM and 320GB hard drive.

Obviously it's a much more serious machine than MSI's previous Atom-based all-in-ones, and the price tag is also a bit more serious. However, €649 for the top SKU with an Athlon X2 3250e is still very good value for money. It costs about €100 more than a similar Atom-based unit and we think it's worth it, easy.

It's really a pity most vendors are sticking to single-core Atom in their all-in-one designs, as they simply lack the horsepower to meet even basic, everyday needs of most consumers.

You can get the AE2010 here.
