Won't renew contract with Apple

According to the New York Times, the Universal Music Group won't renew its contract with Apple's iTunes service. Something has gone wrong during the negotiations and currently there's a standoff between the two.

Universal wants to market music ast will to Apple, which means that it has more control of what is available on the iTunes service than it currently does.

If the two doesn't come to terms, this could be a huge blow to iTunes, as Universal Music represents some of the biggest artists out there.

This could also mean changes to the way other music companies are working with Apple and the iTunes service in the future, so watch this space, as this will be an interesting story to follow.
